Item Description
Two items. c. late 1890s. First is 15.75x21.5” fabric in period oak frame with 14.25x20” opening. Wonderful detailed graphics of Dewey in center wreath design with American flags across bottom and text “Rear Admiral George Dewey, U.S.N. The Hero Of The Manila Fight” with eagle at top holding banner with text “Our George He’s All Right.” Frame is a bit worn here and there, fabric has lt. overall tiny rippling. Margins with hand-sewn American flag designs are lightly but evenly faded. VG. Comes with 22.5x25.5” fabric shrink wrapped, mounted on foam core with graphics of Dewey in center in wreath design with American flag at left and stars flag at right. Has text “The Hero Of Manila” with Dewey’s name just below image. Fabric is a bit worn with age, most noticeable on left and right sides. A few very faint moisture marks near center. Overall lt. creasing but should iron out ok. Fine appearance with bright color. Nice designs.
