Item Description
Two items. c. 1898 celluloid-covered album is 8.5x10.25” with wonderful front cover art image of famous battleship commanded by Captain Charles Sigsbee. Front cover has nice relief flower scroll work accents in 4 corners, spine and back cover are covered in colorful crushed velvet. Has metal accent brass clasp for opening. Has nicely designed cardboard pages with numerous family cabinet and tintype photos in place. Front cover has yellowed a bit with age with a few surface color rubs. Fine. Pages have trace of lt. tanning at edges but overall VF. Calendar is 8-7/8x11.5” with graphics in center which repeat image on album. Issued by A. Hodes Grocery Store in Corvallis, Or. Has single calendar pad at bottom dated Dec., 1899. ©1898 by Koerner & Hayes. Trace of lt. dust soil. Pad is missing first 11 months and has a few lt. creases at top. Fine. Wonderful graphics.
