Item Description
c. late 1890s. Two items, 4.5x6.25x1” deep cardboard box titled “Game Of American Battles” has lid graphics of 3 ships at sea. Contains complete set of 36 cards, each 2.5x3.5” illustrated with various countries’ flags. Inside of lid has instructions for use. Lid has trace of lt. wear around edges, a few color rubs at corner tips. Box is VF, cards are bright and Exc. “Our Battleship” puzzle box is 8.75x11.25x1” deep thin cardboard with nice lid image of battleship Indiana. Parker Bros. Salem, Mass. Box has lt. to moderate surface dust soil with color rubs around edges and is missing left and right side flaps. Underside of front flap has blue tape repair and a 3" long missing piece of this flap has ben replaced by a plain cardboard strip . Good. Ships shown on completed puzzle include battleship "Iowa", White Fleet ships "Texas", "Oregon" and "Kearsarge" and torpedo boat "Porter". Puzzle has lt. dust soil here and there with a bit of edge wear,one piece at top edge has moderate wear w/1/2" Sq. area of missing surface paper. Middle piece from left side edge is missing. Good. Both items have choice graphics and nice color.
