Item Description
c. 1898. First one is 4” tall and 5” tall overall with nice likeness of smiling Dewey on lid resting in basket-designed bottom. Inside of bottom has maker name “McKee.” Dewey lid has hairline through center with a few lt. glue streaks here and there. VG. Dewey bottom is missing a bit of accent color around top. VF. Rare. The American hen nest is 3.25x6x3.75” tall overall. Lid has eagle guarding eggs titled “Porto Rica, Cuba, Philippines.” Nest base has “The American Hen” text in relief on front and back. Underside has relief text “Pat. Applied For.” Lid has 1 tiny edge chip. Inside of nest has very narrow minor color rub. VF. Both are highly detailed with wonderful designs.
