©United Features Syndicate 1954. Made by S&P Doll And Toy Co. Brooklyn, NY. 5.75x15-5/8x4” deep cardboard box has nice lid art with comic strip panel design on top. Sluggo walks up behind Nancy who is writing “I Love Sluggo” in a heart. In second panel they are both smiling at each other with hearts above their head and in third panel she says “You’re A Doll” and he answers “So Are You” as they both hug. Art is signed at bottom by cartoonist creator Ernie Bushmiller. Left side panel shows them both greeting each other with him saying “Hello, Sweetheart” and her answering “Hello, Sluggo.” Large “Sluggo” name is on right end panel. Side panels have text “Out Of Comic Strips Read By Tens Of Millions Americans Every Day And Sundays Come These Dolls Of Sluggo And Girlfriend.” Doll is 15” tall overall with vinyl head, life-like skin arms with fabric clothes and shoes. Box has scattered surface wear with tiny bits of paper missing from left corner lid tips. Center panel on top has personally erased price in 1x4” area. Front panel lower left corner has small clear tape repair. Box about Fine. Doll has some dust soil on hands and trace of lt. aging but overall VF/Exc. Vinyl still pliable. Nicely designed doll with wonderful lid graphics.
