Item Description
Lot of 3. First item is for “Air Juniors The Radio Club Of Happy Boys And Girls.” 6x6.5” two-panel card stock card perforated at center. Top half is member’s card, bottom half is letter to club member. For one of the earliest radio clubs related to aviation, formed in 1929. Card has individual issue number and date of 1932. Letter notes membership pin. Sponsored by Commonwealth Edison Electric Shops broadcast on WENR in Chicago. Signed in ink by recipient. Moderate aging/dust soiling. VG. The other 2 items are for “Horlick’s Trail Blazers” one of the earliest radio adventure programs. 8.5x11” letter to charter member and 7.5x10” certificate dated 1932. Letter includes show promotion for station WGN Racine, Wisconsin. Text mentions bronze medal and describes how it was available for either a seal or wrapper from Horlick’s chocolate malteds/malted milk products. Also mentions an attached copy of the Trail Blazer’s Secret Code although this sheet is not included. Certificate includes illustration of the member’s Badge of Honor featuring “The Devil Bird” but we have never actually seen this premium and in fact these 2 papers are the first we’ve seen in our 44 years. Both have scattered lt. aging as well as some blue ink staining where they lay against other papers and picked up the ink. Certificate signed and dated by recipient. VG/Fine. Rare and historic early radio lot.
