Item Description
1935. McLoughlin Bros. Inc. #2004. 9.75x12-7/8” with nice front and back cover art with smiling Popeye as artist holding pallet painting a can of spinach on canvas. Contains 64 pages. First few pages have Popeye giving instructions, including stereotypical image on page 3 with Popeye saying “Try And Draw Our Old Friend ‘Ol’ Black Joe’.” One page has Popeye changing clothes saying “It Pays To Change Me Sex Once In A While” and putting on a dress. Covers have lt. dust soil with lt. pinch creases along spine, a few minor color rubs around edges and corner tips. Fine. Popeye’s clothes have been neatly watercolored in one panel on one page, o/w contents VF/Exc. Choice cover graphics.
