Item Description
1952. 8x10.75” softcover with 112 pages with some orange accent color. Has nice cover art of monkey in Popeye suit followed by Popeye who is being hailed by Chinese children. Story is told in panel and text form and has Popeye wearing costume with flowing gown and long beard meeting Monki and their travels in China together. Wonderful images include monkey and Popeye in sailor outfits smoking pipes while relaxing in chairs. Book is from a series done by B.J. Reith (1894-1974). His “Monki” series about the world travels of a little monkey was published in magazine form between 1936 and 1941 and later in book form. Covers have some lt. dust soil, bit of wear along spine, inside pages a bit tanned at extreme margin edges. First 4 or so pages have 1.5” moisture mark at lower right. VG overall. Wonderful illustrations.
