Item Description
Each button is 1.25” and each has its W&H backpaper. Button picturing steam engine and coal car includes flags of USA, Canada and Mexico. This button has a little spotting on the upper half but nothing very dark. It is included in the color page section of Collectible Pin-Back Buttons on page 159. Equally worthy of inclusion (had we known of it at the time) is this second button from the same event in Des Moines, Iowa showing a locomotive fireman with one hand on a chain and the other on a shovel handle. Both of these buttons also carry the inscription “7th Biennial Convention B. Of L. F.” Second button has couple of exceedingly tiny gray marks on upper edge but barely perceptible. Also see early railroad button picturing daughter of the Confederacy Winnie Davis item #843.
