Item Description
Each ribbon is about 2.75” wide with brass or brass and celluloid hanger holding fabric about 6.5” tall, all with gold printing. The group’s initials stand for Western Pennsylvania Firemen’s Association and these were issued for 10 consecutive years beginning with the “Ninth Annual Convention” in Aug. 14, 1902 and ending with “18th Annual Convention” on Aug. 10, 1911. Each ribbon specifies the convention city and these in order are: Jeannette, Latrobe, Connellsville, Donora, McDonald, Kittanning, Glassport, Beaver Falls, Carnegie and Monongahela City. Trivial traces of wear on each and the only ones with more significant wear are 1905 “Donora” with the fabric shredding below the hanger. The 1907 “Kittanning” has a single hairline split 1.25” long just below the hanger. The 1910 “Carnegie” has a little greenish tone on some of the gold lettering. A rare collection 10 years in the making.
