Item Description
8.25” tall ribbon with brass hanger, brass tassels and 1.75” celluloid mounted at center showing racing horses pulling driver and steam pumper engine. Text reads “Franklin/S.F.E. Co. No. 1,/South Easton, Pa./At/South Bethlehem, Pa./Sept. 18, 1897.” Ribbon has W&H large cardboard tag on reverse and is essentially Mint coming with a N. Mint illustrated W&H envelope inscribed “If You Wish To Keep Your Badge In Good Order, Keep It On The Cardboard And In This Envelope.” Reverse of envelope has extensive list of W&H patents for various devices and dated anywhere between 1892 and 1896. An exceptional piece.
