Item Description
Very well-made enamel and brass badge 1.75” wide by 1-5/8” tall. Depicted in enamel is the inscription “America First” along with stylized image of the Washington Monument and a flowing American flag while at the bottom is a separate brass piece depicting the American eagle. Tiniest bit of luster loss from the eagle’s wing and slightest trace of 2 faint yellow dots on the white enamel of the monument. Piece is still extremely Fine. Formed in Sept. 1940, America First Committee became the most powerful isolationist group and its leaders included Charles Lindbergh, Burton Wheeler, Robert LaFollette, Hamilton Fish and Gerald Nye. A rare badge.
