Item Description
Primitive looking 5” tall metal robot with bright silver luster and face decal of eyes and mouth. One of 2 slightly different versions produced by Opset of Italy. 1950s. Robot uses a pneumatic method of propulsion. Squeezing a rubber bulb allows the robot to work. Comes with original bulb and tube although bulb has hardened and inner gears and mechanism were not working so a repair was attempted unsuccessfully and these pieces now come along loose. However, remains structurally sound and complete for display purposes including the separate wire antenna. Small scattered trace of luster wear, few tiny decal flakes. Fine. A rare robot and while not a working example, still displays nicely as is. Boxed examples have recently sold in the $1,000 range.
