This was his first comic strip based on the minstrel concept. By 1930 he was creating artwork for the famed German-made Mickey and Minnie motorcycle toy along with a number of other German-produced Mickey Mouse mechanical toys, among the rarest and most collectible Disneyana pieces. Haughton’s next assignment was creating the first Mickey Mouse Annual released for Christmas, 1930 but dated for 1931. He continued to do work for these annuals throughout the 1930s.
