1-5/8” wide fully three dimensional figural head of The Yellow Kid with his lower jaw formed as a separate piece capable of sliding up and down. A cap is inserted in the mouth and then when thrown down, the jaw closes and explodes the cap. The sliding metal piece has an opening at its top so that it can be attached to a cord for throwing purposes. Trivial oxidation on the recessed surfaces of his ears and within the cap chamber but very minor and the exterior finish is extremely clean. c. 1896. Both a classic toy and Yellow Kid item.
