Item Description
Pair from the Warren Publishing Co. archives. Both are bw. Both feature images of buttons made in the 1960s by Elwar Ltd. They produced 2 different sets of buttons, each set comprised of 6 different and in 2 sizes – 7/8” and 3.5”. First transparency is 8x10” with 4x4” image area featuring art used for the 7/8” litho buttons. Images are “Wolfman, The Mummy, Dracula, The Creature, Frankenstein, The Phantom.” Each image has art extended beyond the button diameter so you actually see a bit more artwork than what actually appeared on the individual buttons. Notations in the transparency note it was to be delivered back to James Warren and also notes reduction to 7/8” in dia. Second is 4x5” transparency for the large size Phantom button. This is shown on a “Monster Series” mock-up display card listing all six in the series. While we have offered dozens of these large full color monster buttons over the years (see items #2695-96), we have never seen one on the card and believe that this idea was scrapped and they were sold loose. Transparencies have lt. wear from handling but VF to Exc. Unique pair and an incredibly cool item to go along with your button collection.
