Item Description
Toy #173 distributed by Borgfeldt. From 1931. 6.5” tall die-cut tin litho with spring plunger mechanism on back. Depicts Mickey holding a pair of drumsticks and has jointed arms while attached to pants is a separate drum with his name on the front, while top reads “Nifty Jazz Drummer.” This is variety with drum in rwb (also issued with green/white/orange drum). Missing the separate tin tail but replacements are readily available. Toy works well and when mechanism is activated, the separate drum head rapidly moves up and down as a drumming noise is produced and in turn causes Mickey’s arms to move as if he is drumming. Drum head has some typical paint wear as well as noticeable fading of the red color. Additional fading to red on Mickey figure. Scattered small paint nicks and scratches. Appearance still remains glossy. VG/Fine. From the Bruce Cervon Collection.
