Item Description
4.25x11x6” tall. Early Mickey toy c. 1931 distributed by Borgfeldt. Features a pair of 4” tall wood figures of Mickey and Minnie, each complete with string tail. They are attached to a tin litho platform base with wood wheels. Top of platform features choice circus scene in early color scheme with Mickey having blush cheeks and wearing green pants. He is depicted as an animal trainer while Minnie balances atop a ball. Between them is Wienie, a dachshund which appeared in several early shorts including Plane Crazy. Wienie is depicted stretched into a loop through which a tiger leaps. As toy moves forward, the figures do somersaults. Attached to front is original pull string with wood ball knob. Underside of toy has bellows mechanism which produces a squeaking sound. Figures have some tiny scattered paint nicks mostly on/around ears. Tin base has just tiny trace of wear with some minor paint nicks, mostly along extreme edges. All remains totally bright and clean. Overall still an exceptional VF to Exc. example of this classic toy, one of the nicest distributed by Borgfeldt and it has always been a favorite of ours. This is only the 5th example we’ve offered in our 44 years and the previous 2 examples, in lesser condition, sold for $4335 and $6142.
