c. 1935 set #1536. Train consists of 7.25” long wind-up painted metal engine, 4” long coal car with attached painted composition figure of Mickey Mouse, 3 different 6” long tin litho train cars. The engine looks identical to the circus train model but has an interior difference. While the engine front has opening for a light bulb and the interior mechanism includes a bulb holder, this version of the engine was made without a wire and switch necessary to operate a headlight. Also, the front top of the engine is missing a .75” dia. silvered metal circle that represents the smokestack opening. The red paint has 1x1” color rub on front below the headlight opening with most paint gone but other all-over paint loss is largely limited to tiny chips or streaks along the formed metal edges. Paint remains over 90% complete and very clean. The winding mechanism works and engine has tin litho nameplate on one side reading “Lionel Lines.” Loose key included. Coal car is marked “Mickey Mouse Stoker” and Mickey is depicted holding metal shovel. Figure is designed to move up and down as if he is shoveling as the train travels. Small traces of wear to both figure and tin car. Fine. The three train cars each have different title and these are “Mickey Mouse Circus/Mickey Mouse Band/Circus Dining Car.” Each features great illustrations on all 4 sides which include Mickey and Minnie, Horace, Clarabelle, Donald Duck, Pluto, Big Bad Wolf, Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother as well as circus animals. Dining car has them enjoying refreshments, band car has Mickey as band conductor with Donald playing horn and Fiddler Pig fiddling and Fifer Pig playing flute. Circus car has Mickey and Minnie greeting each other outside animal cage. All have some scattered traces of wear and aging including some paint nicks and scratches. Each retains a bright appearance. All remain Fine. No track is included but generic and can easily be found. A true classic for both collectors of Disneyana and train sets. Great graphics.
