Item Description
c. mid-1930s. 8x11.25x2.25” deep thin cardboard box has wonderful lid graphics of Mickey and Minnie on top laughing and operating handcar in countryside. Front and back panels have graphics of them approaching “Lionel City” train station. Set #1155. Box has scattered lt. wear, color rubs around edges with a few small surface creases here and there. Fine. Wind-up toy is 2x7.5x5.5” tall with 4.5” tall composition figures attached to the painted metal handcar. Minnie has wood hat and both have wire tails. Figures have lt. trace of wear, Minnie’s shoe tips have tiny paint flakes. Mickey and Minnie legs have been professionally replaced. VF. Complete original 8-piece round track shows some aging to metal finish. Fine. Replaced key. Wonderful design for toy which saved the Lionel Corporation during the dark days of the depression.
