Item Description
Extensive lot from 1942 by Diamond D-X service stations/Mid-Continent Petroleum Corp. First item is 1.25” dia. button. Complete with Kay Kamen backpaper featuring Mickey image. St. aging/fade but glossy and VF. Second is 9.5x12” die-cut stiff paper mask. Dumbo wears headdress marked “D-X.” Few lt. creases to ear tips, trace of aging. Fine. Next are 12 different issues of “Dumbo Weekly,” each 7.75x10.5” with 4 pages. A total of 16 issues were published in this series, this lot includes numbers 5-16. Each features nice cover art while contents include “Dumbo’s Midnight Adventure” story, “Timothy’s Tinker Shop” activity, “Gags” page plus different specialty art ads on back for Diamond featuring Dumbo as gas station employee. Six issues have imprint for Preston, Iowa DX station. Tanned with age. Number 7 is missing .25x1.5” piece at front lower right corner. All others have just minor trace of margin wear and remain Fine/VF. Final item is 8.5x11” nicely illustrated envelope with text reading “Adventures of Walt Disney’s Dumbo Compliments Of Your Diamond D-X Dealer.” Illustration depicts Dumbo and other characters riding Casey Jr. Lt. aging and handling wear.
