Item Description
October 4, 1940 for event held at four theaters in South Bend, Indiana where Knute Rockne coached Notre Dame football team. 1.25" brass pin has nice relief image of Rockne with text “K. Rockne All-American World Premiere South Bend Oct. 4, 1940". Pin has screw back. A few lt. surface scratches around image area. Fine. First we’ve seen in our 45 years. Flocked soft cover program is 6 1/8x9.25" with string tie at side. Nicely designed with glassine paper covers over first and last pages. Contains eight pages promoting popular movie which starred Pat O’Brien, Gale Page, Ronald Reagan, and Donald Crisp. Photo of Reagan has his name misspelled “Regan”. Includes photos from film, synopsis, and Knute Rockne stats. Covers have trace of lt. wear. Two inside pages have barely noticeable minor crease at top but contents overall Exc. Pin and program are nicely designed. In the 13 years as head coach of Notre Dame Rockne lost just 12 games and Notre Dame won the National Championship in 1919, 1920, 1924, 1929, and 1930. Rockne is well-known for his “Win One For The Gipper” Notre Dame speech in 1928. ESPN named him one of college football’s greatest coaches in 1999.
