c 1930s made by L.H. & H. NYC. Set #708/11 model No. 1. 6.25x9-1/8x2-1/8 deep cardboard box has wonderful specialty lid art by creator Gene Byrnes showing Jimmy Dugan and friends looking through microscope with large image of grasshopper as Bullseye the dog sits nearby. Lid has some lt. fading with a few moisture marks here and there, sides and corners of box have a few minor color rubs. Overall VG/Fine. Has insert platform holding metal microscope, specimen collection jar, cardboard box with glass slides with paper inserts, tweezers, dissecting needle, and glass rod to be used with liquids. Die-cut cardboard insert has 1" split in center. VG. Instruction sheet has a few lt. creases but set is complete and all parts appear VF. Made in Japan. Rare. First we've seen in our 45 years.
