Item Description
1950s. Made by Lowell Toy Mfg. Corp. # 525. 12x15.75x1-5/8" deep with choice lid graphics of Joe punching a fighter with text "Power Packed". Lower right has text "Play Joe Palooka And Box His Famous Comic Strip Challengers" with images of Humphrey, Bateese, Ruffy Balonki, Big Leviticus, and Digger McFarlane. Lid has color rubs around sides and edges, one corner has seam split and two side edges have tears. Still bright and VG. Game is complete with die-cut insert designed like inside arena with boxing ring in center surrounded by crowd. Includes die-cut spinner with Joe Palooka in boxing gear raising his gloves, six die-cut thin cardboard character figures printed on front ranging in size from 2-1/8" tall to 2.25" tall with each attached to slot in plastic peg for use in game, two marbles, four wooden pegs and metal flipper. Object of game is to have one player take the part of Joe Palooka and the other to select a challenger to box the champ. Marble is inserted in flipper with object to go into die-cut hole in ring center. Holes are labeled with different point scores. Includes knock down, left to head, right cross, left uppercut, clinch, foul. Playing pieces and spinner have lt. wear as does game board. Overall Fine. Scarce. Great design with superb graphics.
