Item Description
1945-1950s. Each is 2.5" dia. 4.75" tall. August 1, 1945 glass has text "Welcome Captain Eddie" with logo design of patriotic hat in ring like he had on his plane in WWI as aviation Ace. Reverse side has text "Compliments Of Federal Glass Company Columbus, Ohio Captain Eddie's First Employer". Next seven glasses are all 1950s and six of the seven have facsimile Eddie Rickenbacker signature. The WWI war hero bought Eastern Airlines in 1938 and managed it until 1959. (See Rickenbacker signed banquet program #1305). Seven glasses are clear and one is frosted. Most feature Eastern Air Lines logo combined with introduction of new planes being put in service. Text includes Constellation Inaugural Flight, New Type Constellation, Silver Falcon, Golden Falcon (3 varieties including 1 frosted) and 27th Anniversary Eastern Air Lines. All are N. Mint. An interesting and historical lot from early airline company with great designs. Wonderful for display.
