Item Description
15/16" (25mm) gorgeous ferrotype with same text on brass rims as the following Dewitt numbers but with unlisted photo designs. The photos of Dewitt AL 1860-104/105/106 all have the names in small letters above the heads. Here the names in large bold type are to the left and right sides reading "Abraham/Lincoln" and "Hannibal/Hamlin." The Lincoln side brass rim reads "The Constitution And The Laws 1860." The Hamlin side reads "Union Of The States 1860." Rim hole as issued. Both ferrotypes are close to flawless. There are no chips, no craze lines and nothing more than a 1/16" surface rub hairline on Lincoln's lower coat showing only in reflected light. Gorgeous luster about 99% intact on the brass. A very bold and striking design with their names especially prominent. A rare variety and even more so in this spectacular N. Mint condition.
