Item Description
5/8" dia. with 1.25" pin, this item is structurally identical to the 1860 Lincoln ferrotype stickpin offered as item # 175 except the rim on this is tin rather than brass. The Mint cardboard photo is covered by a thin sheet celluloid held in place by the rim edge which is very unusual for an item which in every way appears to date from the 1880 campaign. The name "Celluloid" was registered in 1870, but its use on campaign items prior to 1888 is extremely rare. Minor loss of silver flashing from the rim and tin reverse but otherwise Mint. Rare.
