Item Description
Hake McKinley #302. 1.25" litho with replaced vertical black pin quite similar to the original on the reverse. Front depicts U.S. Capitol with a window cut out below and an interior metal panel reading "Here He Is." At the top, a 'steeple' is pushed to make either McKinley or Bryan photo appear in the window. Text on the reverse explains "Oh Stop Guessing! Presidential Problem Solved. Hold Button So Capitol Is Slightly To Either Side, One Of The Candidates Will Appear Mostly. Elected Your Choice. Lock Steeple And Wear As A Campaign Button." Reverse paint is near mint. On the front the far right edge is missing four tiny paint dots each about 1/16". This degree of paint loss on this litho is extremely minor and this example is in overall Exc. condition and among the nicest we've seen as the paint on this piece was susceptible to flaking. Working perfectly. Almost certainly the very first litho tin mechanical button. Scarce.
