Item numbers 1 through 1553 in auction 202
Item Description
This 5.5" tall ribbon badge was used in conjunction with TR's visit to Portland which occurred May 21, 1903. The badge also displays some relationship to his visit to Los Angeles on the same trip. At the top is an embossed brass mint luster hanger with celluloid insert reading "Portland.../..Los Angeles." On the yellow ribbon below a beaver with umbrella shakes hands with a large standing bear with a satchel inscribed "Portland" above the caption "'De-E-Lighted!'". Suspended from the ribbon is a one sided celluloid on metal 1.75" disc showing a branch with oranges symbolic of the Los Angeles portion of the trip. On the reverse the horizontal bar pin has popped loose from one of the two solder spots but the remaining intact spot is more than sufficient to keep it in place. The rest of the piece is beautiful and N. Mint. Only example we've seen. Morry Greener Collection.
