Item Description
Three items. c.1930s. 6 x 8.75x1" thick cloth purse with leather interior is heavily covered in pearls and rhinestones on outside in geometric pattern. Comes with 3x4" silk coin purse and 2.5x3 1/8" satin-covered compact with mirror inside. Purse has some wear with some missing tiny rhinestones along edges. Satin-covered leather interior is pulling loose on one side and needs to be re-glued. Fine. Most of luster is worn off snap fastener on coin purse and compact has a red ink mark on inside. Overall group is Fine/VF. Wonderful display items, originally obtained at a 1996 Christies Auction. Coin purse has string tag and compact has sticker. Carol Lombard (1908-1942) was noted for her comedic roles in several classic films of the 1930s, most noticeably “My Man Godfrey” in 1936. By the late 1930s she was the highest paid star in Hollywood earning around $500,000 per year. She married Clark Gable in 1939 and died in a plane crash in 1942 after raising money at a Defense Bond rally. Wonderful items for display. Comes with Hake’s COA & Richard Wilson/Norma’s Jeans COA.
