Item Description
Two items. 9.25x12" soft cover book with 32 stiff paper pages ©1956 promotes mail order cartoon course sponsored by noted cartoonists including Al Capp, Milton Caniff, Willard Mullin, Rube Goldberg and others. Much photos and art throughout and also includes photos of illustrators Norman Rockwell, Austin Briggs, and others. A few minor handling creases, VF overall. Comes with two typewritten letters on “Famous Artists Schools” letterhead signed in ink by the head of accounts and dated 1963 and sent to potential student who ran out of funds and enclosing a refund check. Letters are folded as mailed and first letter has paperclip impression at top. Fine. Check was never cashed and is here. Second item is huge 10.73x63.25" foldout compiled by McGowan Miller titled “The National Cartoonist Society 1970" featuring over 300 self-caricatures of noted cartoonists along with their signature Includes Charles Schulz, Chester Gould, Hal Foster, Willard Mullin, Chic Young, Joe Kubert, Al Williamson, Paul Terry, Milton Caniff, Jim Ivey, Rube Goldberg, Basil Wolverton, Walt Kelly, Bob Montana, Al Capp, Stan Lee, and Creig Flessel. Seven vertical folds as issued, a few tiny margin edge tears but overall image area will mat and frame to Exc. appearance. Wonderful images throughout.
