Item Description
At 2-1/16" this is the largest lapel stud we have ever encountered. Tin rim surrounds paper with text "Philadelphia's Choice For U.S. Senator on Hon. Boies Penrose." Item has black metal back with pair of rwb ribbons held below. The stud on the reverse is of the standard size and stamped with name of Philadelphia maker "J.W. Durham." This item dates from his first senate campaign in 1896. The paper is not covered by cello but it does not appear to have ever had a covering. Tiniest age on the one ribbon but overall rare and Exc.
