Item Description
This fantastic collection was shot and put together c. 1966-1972 by a true fan who spent much time outside the gates of Graceland and at other locations where Elvis made appearances. There are 80 photos in all, 79 color and 1 bw. They are broken down as follows: 63 clearly show Elvis, seven show Priscilla only and two have glimpses of Elvis and Priscilla together in cars and there are eight misc. images. Photo sizes are mostly 3.5x3.5", a few are 3.5x5.5". 32 photos have been trimmed, some just on margins, others more severely, but no main images are affected. Elvis is the center of attention on the 64 photos that show him. He is shown outside and inside the open gates of Graceland as well as coming and going in cars. Many show him at the gates happily mingling with fans, signing autographs, accepting gifts from fans, etc. A few show him riding his horse Rising Sun. It is especially interesting to note all the different clothes he is wearing in the photos, from casual shirts to a black leather jacket. Some photos have handwritten notes on backs including "Elvis Leaving For Studio Jan. 13-70; Elvis, Bodyguard Charlie Hodge And Fans At Graceland June 1970; Elvis Leaving Astroworld Motel 2nd March 1970 At 4 PM; Elvis In Memphis On Horse Rising Sun" etc. Priscilla photos are all of her driving cars, coming or going and she has different hairstyles in almost all of them. The two showing them in car together are interesting as well. One is marked on the back "2-5-68 Bringing Lisa Home. Elvis, Priscilla and Lisa In Back. Mrs. Beaulieu-Joe E. In Front", (Lisa is not visible in the dark backseat interior). The second with them together is a 5x7" showing them sitting in the back of a Cadillac as two men unload luggage from trunk and a private jet sits in background. The one bw photo is of Elvis's Uncle Vester in a security uniform w/badge showing. He is seated on lawn by Graceland's front entrance. There is one photo of Elvis's dad riding in a car. The last six photos include two of Graceland (front and back views), one of Elvis's Palm Springs house, two of other houses (possibly other views of the Palm Springs house) and one of an empty limo with front and back doors open. A few of the photos have slight fading. As previously mentioned, some are trimmed. Fine to Exc. overall. All show the work of a dedicated fan using different cameras that an amateur photographer would used have at that time period. A fantastic collection of unpublished photos with many wonderful images. A fascinating glimpse into Elvis's world during this very important time period of his life, with events during these years including his '68 comeback and the birth of his only child. All photos shown online. Comes with Hake's COA.
