Wonderful 1.75" button depicting both real and fanciful flying devices issued as a souvenir for historic event with text on the button reading "Aviation Contest/Jan. 19-20-1910/Los Angeles." Reverse has backpaper of "L.A. Badge and Mfg. Co." with spring pin holding rwb ribbon with tiny brass stud joining an embossed brass shell of an airship to the ribbon. This button is shown in Hake's Collectible Pin-Back Buttons in the color page section although our example did not have this suspended accent. All is in gorgeous and essentially Mint condition. The piece stands 3.25" tall. Rare. See next related item.
