Item Description
1.75" with backpaper naming maker "L.A. Badge & Mfg. Co." and with same design as previous item but this in a different color scheme and from two years later with text reading "Aviation Contest/L.A., Cal. 1912." Celluloid surface is a little uneven to the touch but no stain and the piece is Exc., displaying Mint. Spring pin holds purple cord leading to a loop on a piece of metal joined to the top edge of an airship. The metal piece between the loop and the top edge of the airship was apparently once a closed oval but a segment of metal broke loose from the reverse and is gone although this is not at all evident as the front of the piece still displays Mint as made. While we've seen two examples of the 1910 button this is the first we recall with the 1912 date. Rare.
