Item Description
1.5" showing Polish-American aviator with his portrait posed above his airplane which left New Jersey on June 3, 1932 headed to Warsaw. He was long overdue and assumed dead when on June 11 a British steamer saw an object, thought at first to be a buoy, but which turned out to be the tail of his airplane with him clinging to the machine. He is quoted upon being taken aboard as saying "Thanks Very Much Captain I Have Been Waiting For You For Eight Days" and then collapsed exhausted but unharmed. Trivial oxidation on metal back but cello is essentially Mint. Scarce.
