Item Description
5.5" felt reads "S.S. Roosevelt." This has a rather gray tone to the originally beige felt but otherwise just a minute edge nick and a small dot of fabric loss from the reverse. Button is 1.75" with backpaper of American Badge Co. The photo shows boat with name "Roosevelt" between the two smoke stacks and with a magnifying glass his full name can be read on the bow. The boat is filled with people on two decks. Button has a number of pinpoint dark spots at left which is in the development of the photographic paper as the button itself is essentially Mint. This ship was a passenger steamer built in 1906 by Toledo Ship Building Company and it operated commercially on Lake Michigan. During WWI it served as a troop transport. First we've seen.
