Item Description
1.5" wide sheet of celluloid with movable stickpin at the top. Reverse has name of maker Bastian Bros. Front shows hoe and rake along with the initials of the group "U.S.S.G." Olive color is a little faded or worn but all remains clean and Fine. This group was created in 1917 to encourage gardening among school children and the participants were known as 'Soldiers Of The Soil.' They worked under the theme of "Helping Hoover" who was the government's primary food administrator. Rare and the only example we've seen.
