Item Description
2.25" with no maker's name and no text. Pictured are Tojo, Hitler and Mussolini all in military uniforms running away from a full figure woman in what seems to be a military style dress and hat who is throwing a kitchen sink at them. The button has a very fresh appearance including a metal back with a soft silvery luster which we do not feel is from the 1940's and would estimate that it could be any time from 1970's into the 1990's. In spite of the questionable date this is the only example we know of and it came from the Marshal Levin Collection. We want to emphasize that this is not at all like the fantasy design purported WWII buttons which have been appearing on eBay which have cloudy (due to artificial scratching) plastic (not celluloid) coverings plus artificially oxidized (light acid wash) metal reverses and image papers that under magnification reveal the dots of an ink jet printer not available to the public prior to introduction by Hewlett Packard in 1988. This button, whatever its age, is of the highest quality with crisp, clear details and no dot pattern. On the reverse there are two pinpoint dents on the collet but otherwise condition is essentially Mint. While we cannot specify the exact age the item is from the Levin Collection and comes with Hake's COA. Also see The Shadow inspired WWII conservation button #1776.
