Item Description
10x14x17.5" tall with dark wood cabinet. Stand-out feature is cast metal plate with high relief design attached to the front of the frame in front of the original and intact speaker cloth. This features an image of Mickey playing his one-stringed instrument as part of a street scene that includes road with car and people, buildings, moon with face in the sky. Raised "Mickey" name at base of plate. Below this is radio dial with celluloid cover and metal frame, also marked "Mickey." Dial is marked "Philco Transitone." Below this are the three original knobs. Top back edge has metal plate with "Mickey Radio" name, serial number "1053", and text in Spanish of Buenos Aires address. Back wood covering is missing but appears to have all tubes and parts and has been rewired and is in working condition. Cabinet has small trace of wear, mostly along edges including a minor 1" hairline at back corner seam. Metal plate has scattered luster loss but much silver luster remains. Fine. An incredibly rare radio, the only example we have seen in our 45 years. A must have for collectors of Disneyana and vintage radios. From the Michael J. Stern Collection.
