Item Description
We've seen a similar 1.25" button with same design but obviously a later printing from the 1930's. This is the original printing of the button and has tiny text on bottom edge "Lucke Badge & Button Co, Balto. Md." In addition is a backpaper, the first we've seen, reading "J. Pincus & Sons/Manufactures Of/The Mexican/Hat Broom Novelty/And Buttons/388 Rockaway Ave/Brooklyn N.Y." The button's design is a great color depiction of woman in red bathing outfit holding onto a white life preserver as she floats in the blueish green waters. Button is essentially Mint. Rare in this early version. See following related item.
