Item Description
This cover is one of the most classic and iconic war covers of Cap’s long run. Considering how many war covers that Cap had, that is saying a lot. Artist Al Avison has created an image that rivals the best work of Simon and Kirby in its effectiveness. Cap and an enemy soldier tumble toward the reader in a fierce brawl to the death. Behind them, Bucky is taking on another enemy with his fists. Behind the both of them, several other soldiers are firing away in a blind attempt to hit anything that moves. Hidden behind the main action, down on the left side is the image of Japanese sail attached to ship in the harbor. It becomes clear that Cap and Bucky are overseas for this adventure. For more about Captain America, read our solicitation for Captain America #5 in the comic section of this catalog. The book features the art of Avison, Syd Shores, Don Rico, and Al Gabriele. There is also a story by Otto Binder. The pages are cream to off-white. The book is CGC-certified 5.0. (VG/FN).
