Item Description
This very graphic 1.25" portrays the Lone Ranger on Silver rearing up against a background of clouds, mountains and trees. Surrounding text is "The 'Lone Ranger' Comic/Daily And Sunday/Examiner." In the Hake Pop Culture guide we estimated this as c. 1939 but the accurate date would be 1938 as it was used as a promotional button for the expansion of the strip from just a daily to include a full color Sunday page appearing in the Chicago Herald and Examiner. Celluloid has slightest trace of a 1/16" mark on rim at 8 o'clock just barely visible and not detracting at all from the otherwise essentially glossy and intense color appearance. We've had this button only once or twice and this may be in fact the one in the Hake Guide photo where the button carries a N. Mint value of $850.00.
