This item and a handful of additional prototypes came into the hobby in the late 1970's via a man who worked in the famous premium producing company Robbins of Attleboro, Mass. This piece spent nearly two decades in the Hake Collection before we finally parted with it a decade ago. This unique item is pictured in Hake's Pop Culture guide as TMX-128 with a value of $7500.00. The piece was likely created in 1937 as a trial design to show Ralston executives. The final design issued in 1938 is smaller and different as shown by our previous item. This prototype is about 20% larger at a full 2" tall. The reverse is flat brass with a soldered bar pin. The front has engraved details on the eagle and the large "Tom Mix Ralston Straight Shooter" logo brand with large "TM" at center has raised lettering and a raised checkerboard pattern. The vast majority of the brilliant luster and precisely hand applied enamel paint remains in tact. There are tiny traces of some whitish color in the crevices around some of the letters and eagle wing details but it shows little and we have not attempted to remove it.
