Item Description
This ring was issued very briefly during Quaker's last year of radio sponsorship. Our count on the known examples of this ring now stands at 12 with this one falling in the mid-range grade of Fine. The adjustable ring base pictures on each side a "Pursuit Plane" and a "Bombing Plane" with the luster on the entire ring base about 50% in tact. The ring top has a small rivet holding three individually movable plates. Each plate has small hole of graduated diameter and the idea is to hold the ring to the sky to look at an airplane. If the image fits within one hole the plane is at one of three different designated altitudes specified on the plates as "2,500ft/5,000ft and 10,000ft." The overall luster on the three plates remains about 50% in tact. Areas without luster still retain nice clean brass finish with no corrosion. Our most recent previous example was an outstanding specimen we graded Exc. Plus and it included a mailer with realized price of $6000.00 plus the buyer's premium. While this example does show luster loss, plenty of luster remains and the piece displays very nicely. An extremely conservative opening bid.
