Item Description
Hidden inside this book is a six-page story by Harvey Kurtzman. It is part of his Hey Look series. Also inside is a six-page story featuring Captain America in a rare latter day appearance about fifteen years before he is found in an iceberg. The art is by Rico. The book features a great cover by the heroine’s creator, Syd Shores. The two women, in equally attractive gowns, are arguing a point that creates a wonderful stalemate. The reader knows that the Blonde Phantom is innocent, but what has she done to make the redhead think she isn’t? As this battle rages behind the curtain, the models and men act like nothing is happening. Shores had a great sense of composition and this cover highlights that ability to balance a main point of action with an interesting background thought. As the Golden Age was winding down, Shores was regularly producing some of the best looking and brightest covers of the time period. For more on the history of the Blonde Phantom, please read our listing for Blonde Phantom #13 elsewhere in the comic listings. The pages are off-white. The book is CGC-certified 9.4 (NM). According to the CGC census this copy is tied with two others as the highest graded copy they have seen.
