Item Description
Syd Shores, the cover artist, also created the character of the Blonde Phantom with Stan Lee. He uses this cover to reverse a traditional comic book stereotype. Normally, a comic cover would contain a woman in a bondage situation as the hero runs to the rescue. This time out, a beautiful woman in an evening dress, toting a very large gun, is dropping into a dungeon to rescue a partially clothed man strung out on a variation of the medieval rack. It is a surprising twist on the traditional motif, especially considering the year this book came out. For more on the history of the Blonde Phantom, please read our listing for Blonde Phantom #13 elsewhere in the comic listings. The book also contains a Sub-Mariner story. The pages are cream to off-white. The book is CGC-certified 9.0 (VF/NM). According to the CGC census, this copy is tied with two others as the highest graded copy they have seen.
