First book is for publicity and features synopsis, advertisement for colored enlargements, banner, window card, marquee hanger and has several features and reviews. Set up similar to a newspaper. Cover has large image of Lugosi with hands raised over a crystal ball with list of contents. Second book is for advertising and has similar cover design. Inside features several images of newspaper ads, lobby displays, posters, lobby cards and other forms of advertisement. Also featured are novelties such as “Return of Chandu” mask that can be ordered and ads for premiums including visible ink cards, balloons, magnifying glass and door/automobile hangers. Folder shows heavy wear at edges with large splits and has been folded horizontally at center. Good. Both booklets are similarly folded but clean and o/w VF. Comes with 11.25x12” sample mask sheet which has “The Return of Chandu” text on mask with space for theater imprint. Mask was made by Economy Novelty & Printing Co. Horizontal fold at center with archival tape repairs. Aging along margins but uncut and Fine. Rare. Last item in lot is 11-7/8x17.5” four-page exploitation book with “Chandu On The Magic Island” title. Lugosi image appears on front cover as well as that of ugly genie-like character. This is for 1935 serial that also starred Lugosi in which he reprised his role as Chandu. Booklet has several bw photos from serial as well as images of 1, 3 and 6-sheet movie posters. Horizontal fold at center with lt. wear along spine. Fine.
