Item Description
Two issues earlier, this title saw the first appearance of the Justice Society of America. The team-up of heroes from both DC and All-American was a success and they immediately became the feature attraction of the book. This cover is an anomaly in their run. It is the only cover for All-Star Comics between issues #3-38 that does not feature all the heroes used on the inside story. Because of this, some comic historians believe that the cover to this issue was originally scheduled for issue #3, but the introduction of the JSA changed that. Another highly collectible feature to this issue is that it features the first appearance of Shiera Saunders as Hawkgirl. Interestingly, when she dons a spare Hawk costume for the first time, she refers to herself as "Hawkwoman." The issue contains a text piece featuring Johnny Thunder, but he does not appear in the main story. The story for this issue was written by Gardner Fox. The issue contains art by Bernard Baily, Shelly Moldoff, and Howard Purcell. The pages are white. The book is CGC-certified 5.0. (FN+).
