Item Description
The cover is a double bonus for collectors. First, it may be the best looking humorous war cover ever done. None of the boys look like they are enjoying KP duty at all. They are so engrossed in their own book that they don’t even see the officer over their shoulder. Secondly, this issue also features a wonderful infinity cover by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. This was the second team of boy heroes that they created for DC; the first was the Newsboy Legion. The Boy Commandos debuted in Detective #42 (1942) and appeared in the title for seven years. In addition to Detective, they were also seen in World's Finest. They got their own title, published quarterly, in 1942. The team was international in its make up and knew its greatest popularity during the war years. Their title lasted until 1949 when it was canceled with issue # 36. The pages are off-white. The book is CGC-certified 9.0 (VF/NM). According to the CGC Census, this is the third highest certified copy they have seen.
